A few things I always tell families
Don't hold your breath. Everyone says "hold your breath!" — but real swimming means exhaling in the water. We'll learn a proper breathing pattern together.
Kicks before arms. Most beginners shouldn't be using their arms yet — strong kicks come first.
You're not kicking when you float. Floating is about staying still and letting the water hold you — a skill all its own.
